Love my FD ~ Australia

Hi All,

Name is johnny and ive recently bought a white FD 2000 model.

Ive wanted one ever since i was a young lad but at the time they were well out of my price range. But now you can pick one up for a song!

It took me a long time to find what i wanted as there were a lot of dodgy dealers out there. This one is schmick in every way inside and out.

Only issue i have with it is a lot of knocking in the rear end. I have just started to attempt to remove the diff bushings and what a nightmare that is. Ive gotten as far as attempting to remove the diff cradle bolts but i cant get enough leverage.

Im thinking about removing PPF and detaching tail shaft and swinging the diff downwards then on the axles to get to the bolts. However i dont know whether that really is a good idea.

Also im going to change the fuel filter but if you need to do this abortion every time to change the filter surely there must be a better solution.

Ive found heaps of helpful information here so far and am addicted to doing research on here. Hopefully i can contribute in some way.

Welcome, Johnny!

That white FD sounds nice. Do you have any pics? I'm glad that you were finally able to pick up an FD.

Good luck. Let us know if you have any questions.

Kent

I got pics but ill do a build thread as i go.

Got the diff cradle out finally without removing PPF etc but now i cant rig up the cradle in my press to press the old bushes out. Im stumped for ideas. There isnt a lot of room to play with on the lip of the cradle where the bush is, and because of its shape its also difficult to mount it on the press. Im stuck!
