Long awaited arrival

How’s everyone doing, this is a long time coming as the title states. My uncle had a FB years back and for the last couple years I’ve been searching for one.

I had just came across a 83 gsl-se I was in the workings of making a deal on when this came up.

it’s a 84, still have to figure out the letter, with 80,000 original miles but was primed for respray after the neighbor backed into it.

2years passed until it was posted on Craigslist. Luckily I was able to get there in time and pick it up. Interior is pristine, has brand new RB springs as well as their sway bars. New brakes all around and new stereo system.

I towed it home, drained the tank and tossed some fresh fuel in it. Battery was still hooked up so I cranked it. Few seconds later it started.

Now I’m chasing a cooling issue before I can drive it.

wish me luck

Hello good lookin

Where she lived the last two years

Onto a new start

welcome. nice find. as for the 83, the SE was only 84 and 85. so if it had the SE wheels, it's due to someone swapping in the SE suspension.

I meant to say I was looking at a 85 gsl-se but got this 84 instead.

mine is an 84 and since it’s a slick top with a/c and cruise with alloys it’s probably an GS

Welcome to the forum!!! You have a great car there no doubt! Are you planning on restoring the car? Either way it would be cool to see a build thread on the car in the 1st Gen section!!

In regards to the trim level, it's either an S or a GS. If it had power mirrors, a dead pedal, windhsield sun shade, a map light, and a light in the hatch its a GS. If it lacks those then it's an S. A/C was optional on the S and GS. Just for reference, a sunroof was available on the GS in 84 but not in 85.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I plan on getting it 100% and in the meantime repaint the orignal Tender Blue. I dont think it will be a "restoration" but more of a resto-mod, just like every one of my cars i guess.

Its defentily a S model then, no power anything. Just means it will be faster right haha

Ill start a build thread here soon once i have more to show. Ive had it a couple days, got it running but now sorting a overheating issue while waiting on parts to repair the bad master cylinder, new plugs, etc.

I've always liked the S models a lot. They are lighter and the wiring harness is identical to a GS so you can add whichever items you want from the GS. I added power mirrors to an S I had a few years ago. Literally plug and play.
