What’s up guys,
Just wanted to introduce myself. I’m 20 years old I live in the North East coast and I have a 1988 blue GXL FC rx7. I bought the car when I was a JR in high school. I drove it for a week straight without registration. Then when I finally got it registered I decided to drive it to school. It felt great until I had to rev it up to 6,000 rpm to incorporate with traffic. When suddenly I felt that it had lost all power and the car sounded different. On the way back home I put the pedal to the floor and it barley went above 30 mph. I knew I had lost compression to at least one rotor. I got home put it inside one of our barns and decided to slowly work on it. Life gets in the way but, fast forward to today I have finally taken the engine apart and have analyzed it. My NA series four engine has indeed failed. The center iron’s coolant jacket has failed, the casting almost seems like it just disintegrated. I have read that this happens when the engine overheats excessively over multiple times. The previous owner probably had tons of fun with it because I was only able to drive it for about two weeks in total. So, being a broke college student I want to drive my car again, because I straight up just love it. With that being said I want to be budget friendly in making it run again, but I also want to retain its proper soul of the rotary engine. With the market today, rebuilding my NA s4 engine is out of the question. So the second best option is the rx8 renesis swap. I honestly just want my car to run again with a rotary. So yea that’s where I’m at right now. From the looks of it this is a great community that has tons of really helpful info for newbies like me. Sorry for this intro being so long. (P.S.
