hello I'm new
I'm Mike from Southern Indiana, nice to meet you, and up 'til now I've only owned Toyota and Nissan vehicles except one, which was a B2200. I didn't really know in depth about RX7's or Mazda in general for that matter until the past 9 months or so, aside from the usual complaining from people about how rotaries are unreliable pieces of junk. Well, that got me curious so I started looking up information and a bit of technical data and videos on rotaries and talking to people who are current owners in my area, which has swayed me into thinking that the rotaries aren't horrible like some people make them out to be. Obviously, like any car, it would need regular maintenance, but it seems they need a little different attention in different areas compared to piston engines, which seems to get neglected by some, hence a disaster under the bonnet(woohoo -_-'). So I'm planning to do some more research, get a fc in the near future and make my own verdict on whether it is an amazing machine that is misjudged by the misinformed or not.
Thanks peoples. Been off for a while because my antivirus for my pc ran out lol. I picked up a 1990 na (with a sunroof
) 5spd. Think I'm going to go gather my boys and get on a rebuild for the motor though. Guy said it had been rebuilt about 50k miles ago, but I dunno. It's smoking quite a bit (smells straight up like oil), o-rings i'm guessing? Either way, I figured it'd be better just to do it and get it over with because who knows what all it's been through in those 50k miles, right? It'll also give me a chance to get to some of those hard to get places to check all the wiring, ground points, and such while the motor is out. Wish me luck I guess. It's not very pretty, but I'll get some pictures posted in the appropriate section when I get a chance. By the way, first impression of driving it was that it's pretty awesome; amazing handling, acceleration, stability, and very comfortable seats
