looking at getting a pre88 turbo II as a track/project car.

my current project got killed by MTO as it will not pass emissions/inspections so it will be my summer DD.

ill be mostly browsing around collecting info on what i plan on doing to the car. will i try to find a decently priced none rusted rx7 (seems to be somewhat hard here in canada.)

any info you would like to give me would be great.

will be great getting back into a RWD car as i went from a 93 bmw 318i to a 04 focus zx5 now going to a RX7.

How hard would it be to import a clean one from japan to canada?

Mike: I'm just up the road from you in Stoney Point- I have the same problem with my 90 vert, won't pass an etest and I'm giving up on the rotormotor- too many vacuum lines and tempermental starts I bought this car in Illinois for $1280. but won't pass etest so in goes the Chevy V6 and now i'm lookin' to sell these parts I won't need...Lotsa stuff on the other side of the river, this car is rust free and has orig. paint, but I've had it with this motor! I see why you want a pre 88- , good luck with your search.

took me forever to get my focus to pass since i swapped most SVT parts on it and that deleted the EGR. now they are going to OBD for OBDII cars, so now ill need to deal with that as from what i read not-ready's mean a fail and my car started out an auto and i swapped to a 5 speed so all the functions are disabled in the ECU and my luck will cause me to fail.

how much did it cost to import the car from the usa? and was it that big of a hassle?

How long can a 12a go without oil metering?

not the forum to post that in.
since i'm new here not too sure what oil metering on a rotary is but if it controls oil flow i would say not very long as oil is its life line.

Not much hassle at all - bought the car on ebay and had seller fax a copy of ownership to US customs in Detroit, they do a title search on it and make sure no liens or stolen- this takes 72 hrs(or less) and you will stop there on your way to Canada and they will clear it there- no fee.
On Canada side, you will declare this car and present them with sales receipt and ownership papers and you will pay a GST and PST on the price, mine was 1253.00 for the car and an additional206.70 for customs. My car was exempt from RIV because it was 15yrs or older.
Pretty simple process, worst of it was waiting at US customs and their miserable attitude-
they are not very pleasant people to deal with.

hmm. ill look into that, cars are much cheaper in the USA and it doesn't seem like much of a hassle as long as your papers are in order.

is there any issues with registering the car with MTO? i assume all the documentation gets passed onto them so they know the car was imported.
