Hello

Hi, everyone, just bought a 79 sa 12A one owner 21000 miles! I'm not new to 1st gen, owned an 84 gsl for 10-15 years so I've been into most of the systems of the car. it won't start but i'm thinking apex seals are probably good with such low miles. maybe carb or ignition problems. owner said it didn't have normal power before it sat. fun fact: I've been walking by this car for ten years, it was sitting in a local mechanics parking lot, I've asked about it 4-5 times, wasn't for sale... I was thinking about it again, and then it popped up on Facebook market place! scored it for a great deal...now the work starts.

What a great example of a 79 GS in Daytona Blue!! That's one to restore!! The engine itself it likely good. You'll need to restore the fuel system first. Tank, pump, filter, clean lines, rebuild carb. Ensure you have a properly working ignition system as well. New plugs, wires, cap, rotor, points, condenser. New belts, hoses, vacuum lines. Fresh oil and coolant and once it starts and runs, tires, brakes, suspension, body seals. This will be an incredible car! Do you know any more of its history?

thanks! the guy I bought it from bought it new in high school and has had it all this time, it needs a lot of work, but there's a lot here to work with. looks like from the sight glass that the carb isn't getting any gas. thinking fuel pump problem probably. fluids all look good, oil looked fresh, wires, plugs looked liked theyd been replaced recently plugs were dry. a lotta dust in the engine bay, but no leaks, ;when I get a fresh battery in it, I'll be able to know more about whats going on with it.

Definitely dealing with a sludged up fuel system. That can be a fight to remedy but once you do, you're headed in the right direction!
