Considering 1st gen RX7
I recently finished up school and am working on my career as an Auto tech and am in the market for a new car. I've been looking a lot at the 1st Gen RX7 and was hoping to get some input from some of you who have owned or do own them. I know that keeping up on general maintenance is key on these and they can be reliable if you are, but what are some of the things I should expect to encounter when owning one, as well as what are some things I should look for when buying one. I would plan on daily driving this to work, which is about 10 miles away. Also, I've heard that adding 2-stroke oil when you fuel up can help with reliability, would you guys recommend that?

Hello and welcome to the forum!
The FB is a great choice! I fully restored n 83 with the carburated 12A a couple of years ago, it was lots of fun, super reliable and not too hard on the bank account
You certainly can daily it, just be sure to allow idle time to fully warm it up before heading out and premix some oil in with the gas. Biggest issue will be rust, I wouldn't drive it in snow and salt.
Take your time before buying to make sure you get a good one. Look for solid compression numbers - 12A housings are almost impossible to find now. Be on the look out for rust especially around the shock towers front and rear and the storage bins. Try for a clean interior especially an uncracked dash etc as they are impossible to find as well.
Other than the internal engine parts (12A specific) and interior, almost all other mechanical parts are still available at places like Rock Auto.
I would get as clean, low mileage and stock as possible. They are becoming collector cars now.
As for the 84/85 with the 13b - perhaps another member can comment?
