I'm a car nut, and my interests tend to span over many types/brands of vehicles. This is my first experience with a rotary engine, and I'm anxious to learn more about these remarkably well-engineered machines. I managed to find a '79 Rx-7 GS, one-owner car, on Bring a Trailer. I bid on it because it looked cool, but never thought I'd win. In fact, the winning bidder backed-out of the deal, and the owner contacted me instead. I couldn't be happier. While I like the later models, with nicer interiors and luxury touches, something about the basic first-gen cars really speak to me. I can't think of a better successor to the ideals of the Datsun 240z. I'm truly impressed with the passion of owners on this site, and look forward to shared experiences. (My Rx-7 now shares space with an '04 BMW 328 Convertible, a '64 Rambler Ambassador, a '13 Fiat 500 Abarth, a '76 Triumph TR6. I told you...my interests are all over the map).
Congratulations and welcome to the forums. This really is a good place to gain info and have questions answered. I remember this car from BaT. Its a exceptionally nice unmolested, clean and original SA. Had lots of documentation too. If I remember right, their were 2 Sonic Bronze cars for sale at the same time when this was listed. This one was actually a little more original but the other one got more love for the shinny paint and 2 tone interior.
The car appears well above average in condition, I'm sure it will continue to appreciate in value. The first gen section is a good place post any questions or just read through to gain information.
Damn, that is a FINE example of a SA22. Please say it will be in the garage, I've seen frost in the morning over the past couple days already. My knowledge of pre-EFI stuff is a bit lacking, but it never hurts to have someone local if you're stuck on something.
Welcome to the forum!! Your 79 GS looks incredible and it appears to have been cared for over the years! Sonic Bronze is such a nice color on these cars!
Looks to be an early car, likely a 1978 build date car. No right side mirror and definitely a right side hood prop rod! Would love to see more pictures of the car!
