CA Future RX7 FD owner

Hey guys,

I'm from the central valley in California and have been wanting an RX7 FD since I was a kid. Going to be on the lookout for a project build sometime in the future and wanted to get acquainted with the amazing rotary community. Hope this introduction is sufficient. I want to be active overall on the forum.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Jatt

Welcome to the land of glory, frustration and financial destruction. There's a ton of good info on here and a number of active people are always willing to offer guidance.

Thanks brother. Fully convinced I'm prepared for the financial pit (I know no one really is LOL )

Yeah I've been lurking the forum quite a bit now and it's an amazing community with a bunch of knowledgeable folk by the looks of it!

There's also a handful of trolls, haters, idiots and ripoffs so you have to stay vigilant but the count is way down per capita from the other mediums like social media.

My best advice from where you are now is hold out for a FD that has a clean history and hasn't been janked up. The additional you pay for buying a car with a functional and well maintained engine and turbo system will be the best money you ever spend on the car as opposed to all the work, money and headache you had to go through to de-ghetto-rig one of these things. I Iearned this the hard way...

Good luck!

Thank you brktha. Really appreciaye the heads up and the advice. That's definitely the goal now you mention that to pay a little extra for a well taken care of FD. Will take that advice to heart.

There are definitely worse addictions you can have. FD’s are a bucket list type of car to me.

Ehhhhhh I'm not so sure about that. Sure drugs are bad and all if used in addiction mode, but it is really really really easy to look up and find that your stock-ish FD you bought 5 years ago having $25,000 in MODS and doesn't run...again...but willl...one day...soon...when you have time...and a few thousand more dollars...again.

The alternative being you have more money than god, or you're ok with driving a car that gets outrun by modern day base level sports cars. The new base model 4 banger mustang makes 310 out of a turbo'd 4 banger that can easily crack 400 with a tune and the new GTs put out 460hp. Its a fun and timeless platform, but if you want to go cheap mode or performance mode...its the wrong platform. Looking back on 5 years of full out addicted, I can't say I regret it or that it hasn't been fun, but it really is a bitch and you should be aware of what you're biting off before you do. Not everyone has the gall for it, which is why we get V8 swappers....which we don't need any more of.
