first time rotary FD in Miami

Been wanting to get an FD for the longest time so opportunity knocked. Got a 94' FD that had a rebuilt title because the engine got waterlogged at some point but had no collisions. The P.O. installed a SX366 single turbo conversion that Im changing to a 7670 setup. Not looking for numbers but good turbo response and "areas under the curve". going to have to change the front bumper cover because it was trimmed to fit the front mounted HKS intercooler (going with a V mount setup). Next, changing all the bushings and going the Ohlins route. See where the project goes from there.

Nice looking FD! And +1 with the RPF1 wheels... Im currently running 18x9.5 +15 rear +38 front and couldn't be happier with the look or fit

Im concerned with all the post of wheels rubbing on the front fenders. I was planning to get the 17"x 9" with the 45 mm offset with 245/40/17. Im I being too conservative? will a more aggressive fitment work without rubbing?

Thanks

Does it make any difference if the wheels are 17" or 18" on the offset with the corresponding tires?

In my honest opinion it's a bit conservative unless that's the only size you can find in that wheel. 18x9.5 +38 with 255/35 tires on mine with no problems and +15 275/35 rear (rear is rolled and pulled). Thinking about running a spacer to bump down into the 30mm to 32mm range to tighten the fitment in the front. Slight roll with a 30 and some light camber is my ideal fitment in a 18x9.5 on 255 tires.

Thanks for the tip. Trying to go with the 17" to work with a little more side wall and keep the unsprung weight down. heard from other members that have trouble with the 255 tire size upfront at lower ride heights. Also trying to work with alignment settings that favor the cars handling rather than to fit the tire under the wheel well but thanks for the reference data point. The 17 x 9 comes in 45 and can add spacers if possible.

Thanks

When I say add some camber, I don't mean make it like the guys stuffing way to large rim and tire combos under the car, I mean add a little negative camber. Its actually good for your handling as it creates a full contact patch on the road while in turns. When you hit a corner your cars going to want to roll, and if running zero camber, it will force for tire onto its shoulder instead of into a full contact patch position. Its a game of feel... But don't let anyone steer you away from running a bit of neg camber, I run it on every one of my cars up front. GL
