Canadian and newly wed to an FB!

Hello everyone!

My name is Daniel and I reside in Niagara Falls, canada.

Recently (as in, 19 hours ago) purchased my first RX series car, but my 2nd mazda.

I'll give you a bit of info about me before I show you the car.

I work at a shop called Vallis Motor Sport here in Niagara, which builds, maintains and fields/rents primarily Formula Vee/ Formula 1200 racecars, but also other types of Formula cars, formula ford 1600, 2000, and lately an old Star Mazda 13b powered machine!

anyhow! have wanted a FB for nearly 10 years (since I was a boy delivering papers and there was one sitting/rotting in my neighbourhood), last year I drove a GXL FC3S at a drift day, and then I came across my baby!

1982 RX-7 S model (drums, manual windows, no sunroof, power antenna, 13" steel wheels) that's got 87,000 km and has been stored for 15 years! It's an original canadian car, it's pretty unbelievable.

Anyhow, car needs some work to get it to operating.. empty out the shellack'd gas tank, run brake lines (its the only rotted thing under the car), fit an exhaust, service the brakes, do a tune up on the ol' 12A (which ran on a jerry can of gas) and then enjoy.

I would have to say this is the best possible situation, as I purchased the car from Can-Saf Auto Repair in Oshawa Ontario, and they're a mazda rotary shop!

Welcome welcome!

Not bad FB you have there. What are you plans for it after you get it running?

I'm really not too sure. I don't want to modify it to the point that it's hardly original, but I do have a street port 12a that can go in it..

I've got a tercel that's my soon to be boosted track car, so this car would almost be just an enjoyable canyon carving weekend car.

Welcome to the club fellow Canuck ..... that's a decent FB ! I love the fact it's a solid roof car , pretty hard to find in the later years. Spec7 or ITA material ??? Or of course a decent street car. Cheers

Thanks guys!

I won't be turning this into a racecar, i feel its too solid and should be driven in nearly original (but mildly hopped up) condition, and so that way I can drive it any time I want, and not have to pay bucket loads of money to drive it solely on the track!

Plans right now are to get it running -unfortunately I think that involves dropping the fuel tank to drain it and putting a fuel pump- and doing the important things like brake lines, brakes, tune up.. I'm getting a Racing beat header for it (since i need to put a headerback exhaust on it anyhow) and getting some adapters hopefully so i can put some 4x100 wheels I have that are nice and road worthy on it!
