This is the beginning of my first rotary project.
Hey, I'm Brenden from North Jersey. I've always love cars, ever since I was a little kid. I grew up with a father reminiscent of his BMW days and around multiple uncles who all have unconditional love for SBC's, rear wheel drive, and driving like idiots. I graduated high school and decided to pursue a career as an auto mechanic. I attended and graduated The Universal Technical Institute (where the only word spoken about rotaries is "obsolete"). About a year and a half ago a friend of mine at school began enlightening me on the power building aspects of the Wankel. So since then I've been reading and researching the rotaries inside and out. I read, highlighted, and racked my brain with the formula laden 'Rotary Engine' by Kenichi Yamamoto which offered me knowledge I could not acquire by any other means i had available. All that leads to the fact that I recently bought a 75000 mile 1981 GSL 5-speed from its original owner. I have already began work and planning for what will hopefully be a successful project, that will yield a clean, moderately powerful resto-modded first gen. Between the help for this forum, from a few rotorheads and other knowlegde this project seems rather attainable.

Thanks! I'll certainly be posting progress as well as seeking some know how. I have an intermittent running issue that I have trace to an overhesting/malfunctioning leading ignition module. Msd here I come!

I've had the car for about a month. I bought it from the original owner, who took perfect mechanical care of the car. It has 75000 miles on it. He hadn't driven it much since 1993 but still started the car up and drive I down the road and back. I have all the original paperwork, the window sticker and all. I'm stoked on it.
