New to the forum but long time fan/owner of these awesome cars. In the past I had a 81 and a 83, a 87 red covertible, a 88 GXL and a 90 convertible but those were all long gone and been out of the RX7 world for a while but back now due to finding the one I always wanted.
Recently picked up a 1985 Sunrise Red GSL-SE and loving it. Body is extremely clean and straight and everything works on it and have a huge stack of records of work done on it.
Looking forward to checking out the site and seeing what everyone else is up to.
It's good to be back. Missed the high revving motor and the handling.
Will post some pics here pretty soon. I was lucky enough to get a huge stack of records with it dating back to 1992...even have the brochure from the dealership from 1985 with the sales person's card attached to it. A ton of work done on it and up to date on lots of the need to do's on these (clutch, oil cooler, etc)...I do need to get in there and change the fluids on everything but will be a labor of love for me.
Its nice to have the documentation that you received with the car!! The car looks to be in excellent shape based on the picture you posted!! Would love to see more pictures of the car!!
Recently got back into the Rotary world (about time) with a bang. Picked up a 85 GSL-SE. Lots of records and purchased from second owner. Already been offered 5 figures a few times but going to be tough to pry this from my grip. Pics explain why I think.
If I told you, you wouldn't believe it. It'a a lot but with the stack of receipts felt good about it. Clutch is almost new, compression is over 100 all the way around. Going to be a fun car.
Thanks. Yep, it's in pretty good shape. On the hunt for a few things (bag for glass roof, OEM Jack and few things but not too much stuff) Oil pressure is good, temp is where it should be etc. Really happy I found it,looked for a long time.
That's the plan. Always wanted one. Going to do shocks/struts next but a little confused on what is going to work/not work since it's a SE. But I will figure it out. Search is my friend I know.
I have always loved using the Tokico Blue shocks/struts. They can be tough to find for the 1st gen these days however. I have a set on my 85 and love them!
