Steering Wheel is rubbing against plastic behind it
Hi,
I just installed a rebuilt wiper control module and ran into trouble when I remounted the steering wheel. It appears that the back of the steering wheel is rubbing against the plastic behing the steering wheel. Everything appears to be proper until I tighten the bolt that hold the streering wheel on. It looks like I need about 1/16 in more clearance. Any suggestions?

I'll bet the mounting screw holes in the cowl piece are broken.
It's easy to break that old brittle plastic.
Short of replacing the plastic pieces, you may be able to repair them with some "epoxy plastic repair" putty stick.
