94 rx7 swapping 1jz/2jz in it
hi all, I signed up as i've been lurking for some time and found the most useful information around on rx7s here..
i'm a newbie to the 7 and to swapping engines. where I live there are plenty of rx7 fd3s with 1jz and 2jz swaps..all done locally without any tech2/samberg/other swap kits. the swap kits are too expensive in local money (plus the additional cost of shipping) so most people just stick in a 1jz or 2jz.. don't ask me how..i have been trying to figure it out myself..
the whole steering rack issue is common here too..some people have lowered the engine for stock hood while others have changed the hoods.
below are some examples of some of the swaps here, I want to get others opinion on what they think and whether it is ok to swap without using a kit (using the mazda's original frame)

2jz has great power but y not just get a Toyota supra if you want one?
You're kinda stabbing the supra and the rx7 in the back, but thats just my opinion.
Rx7s are engineered for rotary engines, putting a heavier more torquey engine changes the cars entire balance.
However if you can.handle the beast and have the funds go for it, Im sure it'll be fast.

thats the first thing that I thought of when I saw this thread. But it's always interesting to see other types of swaps people do. Personally, If I owned and FD I would leave the rotary. Either way if you do the swap enjoy it.
