93 FD lives

Back in March I introduced myself, having recently acquiring a one owner 93 fd. I picked it up on the East Coast of Florida. Once I got it home, I surveyed my new project. I have owned several Gen 1 and 2 Gen 2 RX's, a rotary powered Lotus Elan and a rotary Mazda Miata. My knowledge of the fd was sparse. Anyway, according to the owner the car had sat in his garage for 4 or 5 years. The good thing it was stored in a garage, the bad thing is it had sat in the garage. Based upon the documentation the original speedo was changed out in 2003 with 31,402 miles on it. The new speedo had 388 miles on it when I picked it up in 2016. Evidently the car sat up much longer than stated. So I dropped the fuel tank, cleaned it, replaced and relocated the fuel filter, new fuel pump, checked the fuel lines, had the injectors cleaned. Replaced the battery, injected some MMO and turned the motor over. The car fired and ran but not strong. I then replaced the vacuum lines. The brakes were rusted beyond turning, replaced the rotors, checked the bearings and replaced the calipers. Meantime I had the wheels powder coated and new tires. Replaced the exhaust with a RB dual tip. Salt air is not your friend. Surprisingly, the body and undercarriage are really clean. In February I was involved in a head on collision(not my fault) but had to send the car out to Jeff at Maztech to finish the checklist, drain all fluids, bleed the brakes and find the reasons for the poor performance. A leaky fuel injector and stock replacement fuel pump were the primary issues. I picked up the car a couple of months later, the car ran great, until I stopped for gas. Immediate limp mode sat it. Called a tow truck and got to the house. Ran the codes and found that the OPM sensor went South. Fixed it and have been having fun since then. I recently recovered the seats with a kit from Leather Seats.com. So now I have a "new" 93 FD with just over 32,000 miles on the clock. Getting ready to put on an after market down pipe and some of the other recommendations that I have gleaned on the Club site. The vast wealth of knowledge from the FD members have helped me sort out some of the issues and questions that I have had. Forgot to mention I also replaced the t-stat. Thanks for the great FAQ and search features on the site.
