88 RX7 Turbo 2

Hello all!

Im working on getting an 88 RX7 turbo 2. I have come here because I have some serious questions before I put any cash down on this car.

There are several things that have been removed that we need here in the state of Ca. Im pretty well versed with normal piston engines. BUT Rotory engines are something new. So please dont assume I know what Im talking about... lol

1 The EGR is gone. There is another thing missing that goes on the intake that has been blocked off near the egr. I assume it was an idle controller unit. Its not there so Im not sure.

2 There were alot of vacuum hoses under the intake and they have been removed. Im not sure what they went to, but my sources say that some went to vacuum solenoids and such. I dont know what they controlled. Its basically all gutted. Everything should be there, but I dont know how it goes.

3 The oil metering system has been removed and the owner runs premix... Whats the deal? Should I be worried? Whats the metering pump? Why can it be pulled off... or shouldnt be..lol

4 The current owner says it has leaky injectors... He said its a typical problem. So I should just opt for new inj.

5 to add to all this smog hassel stuff the engine may have a fetal flaw. The owner thinks that the rear rotor housing has a blown o-ring. It holds compression, but the bottom spark plug gets damp with coolant.

6 The car is painted pink like pepto bismo

Those are the problems.

The pros are
All the extras work!
A pilar guages
Apexi SAFC 2
Gready Turbo back exhaust.
Electric cooling fan
HKS round filter
Good meat all the way around on miata rims
Interior is all there and in good shape

The guy is asking 1500 for the car as is.
Im debating dealing with all its problems.

Thanks for your thoughts

Ray
