87 FC Sport from Wisconsin!
Hello all, my name is Zach. I live in southeast Wisconsin and have just purchased a 87 FC sport last weekend!
I bought it from the original owner with 171,000 miles on it. The previous owner did not drive it winters, and the car had never seen salt before I bought it. The body and under-body have NO rust whatsoever. The underside looks almost brand new.
Sadly the same can't be said for the exterior. The car is supposed to be Sapphire Blue Metallic but the clear-coat has peeled away and flattened, so it will need a re-spray sometime soon. I am more focused on getting it mechanically sound so I can take it to autox this season at Miller Park.
A few mods/jobs I am doing this season is:
-Grant steering wheel
-Shifter bushing replacement, new **** and boot as well
-Magnaflow exhaust
-Sony head-unit
-Fixing some electrical issues (Sunroof, brake light, stereo)
-Basic tune up of the engine
-New tires, possibly wheels as well

So today was productive. I managed to replace my shifter bushings, which made a huge difference to the way the car shifts. I also put on a new shift boot and ****, which seems to make the throw a lot shorter. My shifter also now has oil, and it is a lot quieter. I also put in a Sony deck in with the help of the FAQ page here on rx7club. The relay diagram really helps! Thanks guys!
I will post pics here shortly, haven't had the time to. Been to busy driving my new car!

Doing a complete fluid change would be good for your new ride too.
Never ceases to amaze me the lack of maintenance on a 25 year old car.
"well,it lasted this long!"..Famous last words!
Trust me they need it,and if you do it,the car will reward you!

Yeah I will. I am planning on changing all the fluids when it's a bit warmer out, damn 30 degree weather . The previous owner just did a coolant flush about 2 months ago. I will for sure do power steering fluid, gearbox oil, and brake and clutch fluid. I'm going to change engine oil next weekend. I'm thinking of using AMSOIL XL extended life synthetic 10W-30.

Another Wisconsinite! I'm more towards the center of the state (Madison/Baraboo) but I might actually show up at Miller Park a time or two this season. I generally run with MSCC and CWSCC, and sometimes FVSCC. I've been running an '85 Corolla the last few years, but this year I'll be back in a Mazda. Protege, not RX, but it's still fun.
