2nd 1st gen... after long break.
Back in 1998 I had an 83 GSL for about 7 months. It got totaled in an accident. Today I purchased a garage kept 85 GS with 35k miles... for a really good price. It’s a blue 5 speed. I’m super excited to be back in an RX-7! I live in Muncie IN.

Yes, I got it from the original owner. Here’s the 2 pics I’ve taken so far. Just got yesterday and haven’t cleaned it yet. I’m thinking about entering car shows...

Very nice Nate! You must be my lost brother, because my story is almost identical. I had a red '85 GSL in 1996-97, and just recently got a Tender Blue '85 GS. New one has half the miles but twice the wear -- funny what the years do to us Welcome to the forum.

Maxwedge, I also have an October birthday (20th)! Brothers indeed, haha! I'll get some more pics posted soon. My 83 GSL was charcoal... but VERY sun faded since it has spent its whole life outside in sunny California.
Fortunately the previous owner of this new 85 had the carb rebuilt/replaced last summer... $600 worth of work... I still need to contact the shop to get the service records so I know what all has been done. Anyway, it runs really well.
Yesterday I took a friend out in it (to show off, hehe)... well it had been spitting rain all afternoon so the road was just damp... I forgot how easy it is to turn the thing around going around a corner, haha. Yep, we were facing the wrong direction on the road in no time. : )
My first priority is to get the radio working and get some cassette tapes with #1 hit songs from 1985!
Nate
