Personally I would leave the rear window to a professional. When I had mine done, the installer mentioned that it was "one of the hardest he had ever done".

My installer said that it's hard but the hardest one he did is 944 Porsche.

It's done in 1 piece

When mine were done the installer said the rear was the hardest window he had ever done and said the curve on the side windows were very difficult too. He actually had to take a second try at the passenger window because it wouldnt lie down right. Just fork over a few hundred and have it done right.

i'm not happy the way the rear tint's. they did a very good job, fitment wise. but hte stippling that's around the edge of the rear hatch doesn't seal with the tint, so it's kind of splotchy through there. I'm going to have to go over with some kind of paint pen or pinstriping on the inside.

I bought car with a bad tint (already started to peel, etc. Then I realized that this tint saved interior. Black hatch plastic IS black and like new.

I paid to strip old tint and tint again. After I did it to RX - within a month I called a guy to do my 540 and wife's X5. I never thought I will like tint that much...

I had mine done for 150 with maistar. It's an EXCELLENT tint, completely UV resistant.

Pm for details if you want more info.

Btw ~ side windows are harder then the hatch atleast form what my pro told me.

How dark and what type of tinting are people going with? Also if anyone knows a good tint place in either pittsburgh or NOVA I'd love to hear it.

Keep in mind that if you tint the rear window very dark, it will be very difficult to see while backing up at night.

I had window tint on my FB for a few years. I finally took it off because I couldn't see out of the side (legal, lightly-tinted) windows well enough at night.

Cool

a nice light tint all around on the fd caps off the look. its a must IMO. without it there is just something missing. it also makes the black leather interior a little more bearable in the hot sun, when the gf sits her *** down in a skirt. i dont have to hear her bitch as much

I watched the guys tint the windows on mine. They cut those curves by hand, quickly and precisely.

The one thing I noticed they did was lay the tint on the outside of the glass, they used lots spray underneath and rubber squiggee things similar to what a sculptor would use to smooth out clay. Heated it with the gun to help it start to form, then rough-trimmed it, then heated it to shape.

Once it was done, they trimmed it, and it took two guys, one inside the car, the other to pull the tint from the glass and hand it to the interior guy. Then the real fun started, lining it up, cutting around the heater grid connector, avoiding creases and bubbles. They told me some tiny bubbles are normal and they would disappear over a couple of nice sunny days.

Wow... Good luck.

I got two price in NJ (north) one place on route 23 north $125, another place by willowbrook mall next to firestone $80, I had mine tint back in 97 and my defogger stop working after closer inspection they butcher my defogger lines. Anyway I have replace the glass with a new one from mazda and I am thinking of tint it again because of those damn suv headlights in the nite.
