White FD with black top??

I was wondering if any1 has tried painting a white FD with a black roof. Now a days new vehicles like bmw, benz, scion etc have white cars with black tops. I was wondering if any1 has tried this paint scheme or if any1 has tried it out on photoshop. I think the cut off point from black to white might look weird on the back/side but i'm curious what it would look like.

example:

Most cars that have that have a natural division in the roof, ala mercedes style rain rails, that make it natural (on higher end cars it's actually a CF roof).

On the FD, without a natural seam/crease there, it's gonna look weird.

Actually, there are a few cars on the forum like that... The easiest one for me to find is one of the Fortune kitted FD's:

But Mahjik that does not really apply to a real Fd. The Fortune kit has completly different lines, the back pillar cuts off so the paint can be cut off. But on a regular body of the FD the back pillar merges into the body so the paint from black to white would be an obvious line. Whereas in the fortune, there is no line because its too diff bodies, meaning the hood and pillars are cut off then the side body starts.

Just did a few quick work on paint, see what I mean. The door has this curve to it where it distorts the back pillar cut off point. Also the hood line of black would be higher up then the back pillar would be. A section of the door would have to be painted to keep the black line straight.

Not really liking it... :\

I guess I've seen it done on a stock bodied FD so I don't see the difference in comparing the Fortune kit. The places you want to paint aren't changed by the kit. The main difference is in how the front is done (hood & bumper). The stock bodied car did not pain the hood black. It was only the roof and the hatch similar to how Gordon describes below.

Again, it's not my thing but those are just pictures for reference.

I've noticed painting the mirrors gives it a better look.

Ya Gordon, I understand now what you were trying to say. I'm still 50/50. Not sure if I like it or not.
