What's with the Temp gauges
OK. So a most importan reliability mod is the Water Temp gauge. I look at Scudieri and read, then I look at what is at RX7Store.net. Anyways, at Scudieri, there is a chart showing average temps, ranging from 188 up to 229.
When I look at the temp gauges at rx7store.net, almost all of them appear to worthless garbage, measuring from 1 to 15? Now is this supposed to be 10 to 150? Celcius?
Apex1. 40 -> 150
Autom. 100-> 250
Blitz 1 -> 15
DEFI 80 -> 300
Greddy 30 -> 150
HKS 5 -> 15
According to everything I have read, as soon as it gets above 240 or 250, pull over immediately. Therefore, half of these gauges appear to be worthless crap!
The DEFI ones look to have more space in the 200+ range, plus a rotating bezel so you can move a red danger arrow around.
I think that is the way to go.
Comments?

I'm not sure what you're looking at but if its 1-15 it definitely isn't a water temp gauge. Maybe that is an exhaust temp gauge and 1-15 is in hundreds of degrees F. Almost all water temp gauges measure from 100-250F or some similar equivalent in celsius. However there are many different temp gauges, including air intake, oil temp, exhaust temp, and outside temp ( ), so you may be getting them confused. I personally use VDO Cockpit black, which is 100-250F, and yes, if you ever see more than 230, pull over. By 250 you engine is probably toast. A properly functioning cooling system should never exceed 221F except in extreme conditions.

I am going to go with the DEFI because
1) It has a rotating bezel with an indicator so you can put it above the temparature you want.
2) Even though it goes to 300, the amount of arc that 200 to 250 covers is more than the autometer. The autometer I saw has crap for granularity. The whole range is not even covering the top half of the gauge.

You really don't need to add another gauge (I wouldn't). You can modify the stock gauge to make it more linear.
Right click on the following link and then do SAVE AS:
http://us.share.geocities.com/sdrx7_...structions.pdf
It's an Adobe formatted instruction set for linearizing (is that a word?) the stock temperature gauge.
