what are these 3 wires coming out of my stereo

I have a cd player that I'm installing in my 10ae, and the harness i got from best buy hooks up all of the front and rear speakers, but I am left with three wires that do not go with the harness. One black wire, one red wire, and one yellow wire.

I'm a complete n00b when it comes to electronics, but I think the red and black are 12v and ground? Any help?

TIA,

Tom

This is in the wrong section but...

There should have been a color chart that came with the harness. More than likely red is +12v (always +12v), black is ground, and yellow is ign. (keyed +12v) or a +12v when the key is in the on postion

actually, i think the yellow is a constant 12v and the red is ignition on 12v. but i may be wrong, it's been a short while since i put the CD player in my FC. the one that is fused is the constant 12v. the one that isn't fused is just a 12v source to trip an internal relay to turn the CD player on. the fused wire carries all the current to run the player.

Yellow is constant +12, red is ignition switch +12, and the black wire is ground. There's no ground connection on the factory harness. Merely attach the black wire to the metal chassis of the headunit, or (if using a plastic mounting kit) to one of the four metal mounting screws on the dash.

it might be the wires to power the stock amps, if you still have stock setup.

the blue wire is either antenna turn on, or remote turn on. Most harnesses have a solid blue that turns a power antenna on, and then a blue with white stripe that can be used to trigger a relay when the radio turns on, or to turn on amplifiers (this is the most common use). So if you're not installing an amplifier anywhere, you probably won't use it.
