What causes this?
Ok Im tired of sanding. Tried spray tinting these light three times now and everytime I messed up somehow. This last time the light was sanded smother then ever and I used some degreaser before painting. Sprayed on looked great, then the paint started cracking.
Why does it do this? Im really getting pissed I thought this was going to be easy but I've been messing with these lights for over two weeks now, day here day there. Does anyone know the proper procedure for painting these?

Ye its called Night Shades, supposed to be UV resistant. First time I painted them they came out great, but then I laid on too much clear coat and it started running. Had to sand it clean. Now its doing this. Someone was right when they said don't waste your time trying to tint them yourself. Just take it to a bodyshop and they do it for you right and not that expensive.

what it looks like from the pictures is that the parts are contaminated (oil from hands etc...) When you painted them the second time did the paint kind of seperate kind of like oil + water? Make sure you use some prep-solvent before painting the part.
Good luck, and the best advice for trying to rattle can something yourself is take your time and do very light coats.

I did mine a while ago and they still look the same. Here's a pic from this past September:

And this was back in '03:

It was done using Smoke Tail (with no clear coat).
