What about this idea?

So, let's say you've got an FC...

Let's say you don't like pop-up headlights. Let's say you HATE "sleepy eye" headlights.

What if you got a projector kit like this one:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...979896542&rd=1

Of course, without that lame *** "angel eye" ****.

And molded it into the bumper where the FTP lenses are... Or, instead of getting a kit, getting the projector bulbs or maybe some very small rectangular headlights and putting them behind the FTP lens.

Sure, you would have to make a new hood to cover the complete removal of the pop-ups... But think of the weight savings! No motors, no big *** lights, etc, etc... Plus, it would free up a ton of room in the engine bay.

Whaddaya think guys?

It's gonna turn into a flame war, most likely. I just hate the pop ups, and figure that since the opening for the FTPs is already there, if you enlarge 'em a bit, keep the clear plexi cover on them, and mount the projectors back there, it will look pretty much stock.

I wouldn't mind the extra room under the hood considering the engine swap.

So would you go with an aluminum hood and tack weld a sheet on the headlight locations or purchase a fiberglass hood and work with the mat n' resin stuff?

Yeah, you'll probably get flamed, but to be honest, I’m tired of the closed-mindedness out here. To me it’ll be nice to see something different and clean out there so you’ve got some support on this end.

I would rather make a solid hood to include where the headlights used to be.

You're gonna make a complete hood? Interesting. You're going to be very busy for the forseeable future. Can't wait to see the finished project.

I'm thinking that if I make a mold using the complete front end, fill in the lines around the headlights, then use that to mold my new hood, it should be fairly straightforward. I'm not looking to do major scoops or anything stupid like that, just a simple hood.

and how would you have extra room in the motor bay?.. the retracker motors are in front of the rad. and frame... and then you would lose it just as fast as you got it cuz of the bmeer headlights sticking way out and the brackets to support them....And I don't hate pop ups or the "sleepy eyes" and angle aren't **** other wise they wouldn't be so popular!

I'm talking about making the FTP lens larger and putting the lights behind it. It would look completely stock.
