vis invader hood? good/bad

the latch on my hood broke off the other day and i can't find a way to reattach it so the only thing i can think of is another hood. i found a cf vis invader hood for $613 shipped. is this a good deal, does vis make good cf hoods etc. about 600 is the most i want to spend so if you know of anything that's a better deal and looks better please let me know.

I have a VIS "Knight Sport" knock off on my car. The fitment is "ok" but the quality of it is pretty good. But, instead of buying an entirely new hood, why don't you just buy a set of hood pins for $50 and you're set!

Again, why buy an entire new hood just because the hood latch broke off? When you can buy hood pins and save yourself the $600+

I'm sure you could find a local shop that will sell you the hood cheaper.

The classic Invader hoods don't look good on the FD, IMO. The angular vent just doesn't work with the FDs smooth, rounded lines. Plus, you alway see them on riced-out Civics and Integras and stuff, which ain't a good thing in my book. The Mazdaspeed hood looks better if you want one big vent in the hood.

The vent on the invader is angular. It has two creased corners and it sticks up really high. The Mazdaspeed has rounded corners that look nicer on the 7 and the vent doesn't stick up as much. See below (Invader is on the left; MazdaSpeed on the right).

Wow, I dont like that very much I could have sworn that I saw a VIS hood on ebay that looked just like the MS one *shrug*

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ayphotohosting

Its hard to see but it does look a little "sharper" than the MS one.

BenzaLee, you're right...it does look like the Mazdaspeed, just a lot more aggressive. The pic RedDevil posted is of a Invader hood, but a NON-RX-7 Invader hood. I have it on my FD, and I think it looks BADASS. But that's because I'm going w/ a very smooth yet aggressive look on the FD. It's gotta be complimented by other aspects to work right. Otherwise, it WILL look out of place. But on that note, I just think the MS hood looks wimpy lol. I'd take the Supra aka Knightsports hood over the MS one ANYDAY. If you're talking about destroying stock lines, just my $0.02, but I think the RE/Scoot hood destroys the stock lines more than any other hood, but people go CRAZY over it.

Here are some pics of it on a friend's FD:

FDNewbie,

Thanks for clarifying. The invader hood I posted was from an Integra, and every one I've ever seen looks about like that. You should really send your pics to VIS, since the only shot of an Invader hood on an FD they have is too horrible to make out. Yours looks much better with the extra center piece (that's what makes it look like the Mazdaspeed), but it's still too angular for my tastes. I agree with you about the Scoot hood, though.
