Is there a "color code" for carpet colors?
Im thinking of purchasing red interior carpet for my FD. Ive contacted Mazda and have been told there is no remaining stock of red carpet at any dealers. Ok, well finding aftermarket carpeting for the FD is actually easier than I thought to source, but my issue is that Id like to get as close to the OEM color as possible, and most places offer 2 or more shades of red to choose from. Was there ever a color code for this or any easy way to make sure what I get is close to factory color, or do I just have to pick one and hope?

Yes there are color codes for interior parts.
For example, the seats in a J-spec FD are: F104-57-100E (Right) and F104-57-150E (Left)
F104 is the prefix, which tells it what car it goes in, the trim level/options package, and what region it is for. Ones that start with F are rotary-specific. F followed by 3 numbers are Japan-spec, while North America's non-engine/electrical parts start with FA (81-85)/FB (86-88)/FC(89-91)/FD(93-95)/FE(04+). Generally speaking, the higher the number, the higher trim of car it goes to. A perfect example of this is the seats found in the FC. Here's a list of the individual trims and their specific prefixes:
F044: GT
F046: GT-Limited
F047: GT-R & GT-X
F049: GT-Limited Special Edition
F057: Infini I
F058: Infini II
F067: Infini III
F070: Infini IV
57-100 is the D-code. That tells us approximately where in the car it goes. There's some variation in the last 2 digits if there's more than one such as with seats, but it'll give you an idea of what goes where. That's why the Left seat is 57-150 and the Right seat is 57-100.
E is the revision suffix. That tells us how many version of the part there are. No letter on the end means first version, A is second and so on. E would indicate it's the 6th version.
Last comes the Color Code Suffix. For these seats, there are only two different colors, Black (02) and Red (10). Black ones are the RZ buckets and the red ones are the Spirit R Type-A buckets.
If you're looking for red carpet for your FD, 10 is the proper suffix. So it'd be: Fxyy-(d-code)-10. Might be more expensive than it's worth, so lemme see if my buddy would sell his carpet to you.

FD0168670E17 is the part number for the 94+ red carpet.
This is kind of an interesting thread. A member reported receiving the Spirit R carpet from Malloy Mazda by mistake. If the US 94+ is no longer available, the Spirit R carpet might be the closest you can get, IF you can get it.
