Tailight Question
Tailight Question
I was bored so i decided to continue buffing off the stupid yellow pinstripe on my montego blue fd. i noticed that the tailights, where it ought to be black, looked like more of a faded black. thing is i took a nylon wire brush to a small corner and it took off the grayish blackish and underneither seemed to be a strong solid dark black, still shiny and all. but i wanted to know if it was supposed to be that bold black or if the faded deal was normal. if It's just hardcore sunfade I'm gonna buff the **** out of it
that is mostly sun fad I am sure... I see alot of it when I convert to 99 lights for people, I take it down and then polish it back up...the lights look new then...if you do it I would not use the brush...good luck... hope your arms don't tire out
yea no wire brush, i just had to use it cause i got some glue on the plastic a while back and had to get it off carefully. I'v levelled, polished, and fine polished my whols cars paint and it looks shiny as hell and wonderfully pretty, not to mentiong i used the levelling compound and my rotary buffer to remove the stupid pinstripe on it (did it come factory with it on montego blue's?). so i hope to get the same results on the tailights.
Sevenlust - what compound do you use with most success? and rotary or orbital or by hand?

man i tried polishing the taillights and i either have a tough road ahead of me or what cause i was goin on that thing for quite a while with a medium cut paint polish and still nothing.
has anyone experienced that their taillights look spotted, light and dark spotts, after it gets washed or gets wet? i believe moisture somehow gets under the plastic and makes it looks blotchy. it goes away after it's been dried, but maybe the moisture deposited enough minerals under the clear plastic top to make it look faded and lightened?
