Sub/s in spare-tire well in an FD? how?

ok all, i am putting a full cage in my FD soon and am going to have to part w/ my ungainly enclosure that has been lurking behind my rear strut brace and taking up most of my cargo area; it seems the only place i could afford to put any subs in would be the spare-tire well (no great loss to me, i don't have a spare)... any experiences to share about trying to shoehorn subs in there? i thought about having a box injection molded into it, but that will be pretty expensive... any other options? thx all..

Hi

I have 2 10" Kove's set in a fiberglass enclosure in my spare tire well. It's nice, some Dynamat around it, make sure to out Dynamat behind the license plate or it'll rattle like hell. Hope this helps.

I am thinking about putting a system in my car over the winter. I'm going with 1 Boston Pro 12" sub in the middle with a Xtant A6001 amp running it and a Xtant A4004 amp to run the rset of my speakers. I way also put 2 8" Boston Pro's in each rear corner of the cargo area facing up at roughly 45 deg. angles for so more mid- range punch. I'm planning on making the whole unit out of fiberglass and wood and it will be easily removable for racing.

Well here is a picture of 2-10" subs utilizing the spare tire well. With the acoustics of our cars, these subs, ran with one amp which is also running 2-mids, 2-tweeters and 2-2 way speakers, puts out almost too much bass. One does not need more bass than this. It already can give you a headache. But it sounds good at the appropriate volume.

It is just a Cusco rear strut bar. Also, have Tokico 5 way struts.

I am currently installing the stereo system in my FD. I am puting a 10" sub in the spare tire well, to keep the weight down. Any ideas on the sub I should put in? Anyway. I am going to build a custom fiberglass enclosure in the spare tire well, and the easiest way to check the volume is to pour sand in the newly formed box. I don't know if it helps, but I wish you the best.

pour sand? how do you get it out? and if you want to keep the weight down and get acorrect measurement why don't you build the box out of wood and use fiberglass as a finish above the the enclosure? i am just asking because over the winter, when alpine delivers all my stuff, i will be doing the same (*installation wise). and if you want to keep the weight down and get some goo base response i would probably suggest geting one 12.

please let me know how you will be building youe sub enclosure as this will be my first time working with fiberglass. i have afriend who will be helping me who is experience, but i like to get other ideas.
