stereo install questions

I am planning a stereo install (headunit and speakers) and had just a few random questions:

1) does better speaker wire make that much of a difference? Also wouldn't the quality of the sound be limited by the quality of the wire from the headunit's wiring harness?
2) should i try to put a factory wiring harness back into the car for future purposes (the factory wiring harness was cut out by a previous owner)? Or is there any reason why i cant use quick connects (slide connectors or whatever) to wire in the headunit, or should they be soldered or crimped?

Rewiring depends on whether or not you will be running an amp or not. I would say rewire with like 18 guage.

And yes. Replace the wiring harness. You will need to anyway to fit an aftermarket head unit.

you should always solder any electrical connection.

If your ever planning on selling the car, I would suggest reinstalling the old factory harness

the qualit of the wire is indifferent, $10 speaker wire will soound the same as $500 speaker wire, no ones ears are tuned enough to hear the difference. Just make sure you run properly sized wire if you plan on running amps.

Too true about the wire, some people just don't get it.

Unless you plan on running gold wires, haha.

yeah, i wasn't planning on running $500 wire or anything like that. I was just wondering in terms of things like twisted pair wire or like multi-strand. Are those just gimmicks? Should I not even bother running new speaker wire to the speakers if the quality doesn't matter? (i'm not running an amp)
