speaker installation

Just spent time seaeching for thread on installation of boston acoustic 6.5 pro series speakers in door panels of a 1993 fd. It had a bose system. Someone said it was a direct fit with non-bose or base model enclosures. Is it true ? Can you still gtet them? Has anyone out there done it so I can talk with them ?

I just replaced my speakers with the bose system. I got 6.5 components. If you have bose you are in for a suprise. I took me one whole day to do. First you have to rewire the whole car(which means taking the whole inside apart), then i had to use the stock bose plastic housing(which was meant for a 4" speaker) and carve and shape it to fit a 6.5. I do not reccommend this if you dont have a lot of tools/time/patience/ect. I think i might try and use thin wood and build a small box for the speakers instead of using the bose stuff. I would make then sound mch better too. Good luck!

What's the mounting depth of those speakers? If it's more than 2.5", forget it.
