Question Sparco Seat Install ??

Hi gang,

I know this has been discussed before but I can't seem to find the straight answer. I've seen many FDs with racing buckets installed (Recaro, Momo, Sparco, etc). My question is does anyone have explicit instructions and bracket dimensions for proper fitment. I've seen a few sites with pix showing homemade adapter "brackets" but no pix showing the installation procedure. You prolly figured out by now that I'm not the most mechanically inclined. Anyhoo, so back to the questions....do I need to purchase generic brackets from Sparco, can I re-use the stock slider, will I be able to retain the belt clip? BTW, I have the Sparco Pro2000's.

TIA!

you can use the stock slide. but you also need the bracket too. The Sparco bracket will not work. You need to make one yourself. Also there is aftermarket for FD in Japan.

try here, they made me a custom braket for my Sparco Pheonix seat to fit in my FC
http://www.nascarplace.com/

it cost about $100, but it was well worth it. the bracket they made connects to the sparco rails, which finally connects to the seat.

One big issue.. OPEC...you have a FC..not a FD. Brackets are readlily available for the FC, but not for the FD.. I know because I talked to the company who makes them for momo,sparco,recaro...
Corksport has brackets for mazdaspeed seats for the FD, but I never called them to check on the hole spacing to see if it would work...I just did my own custom job...and the supersports are sweet..I think they called Milano's now..but it's been a few years.

I already saw Jay's page. Nice write up but I was hoping for pix of the fabbed bracket installed onto the Sparcos. Also, I'm not sure if the street line of seats fit/mount differently than the race buckets.

I saw a few pix of FDs with the Pro2K installed but no "installation" pix. Wolfgang Hoeck (SCC's winning car) has 'em. Ex-forum member RocketRider had them but I lost his webpage. And our beloved C-H-E-A-T-H-A-M had the blue ones in his car. Looks very nice too. Wonder how he got them in. :-/

Thanks again.

My aluminum brackets(bars) are about as long as the width of the seat...then about 1/3 thick of so.. and about 2-2.5 inches wide.

Hedgehog, no-one has posted this yet, but Mazdaspeed makes seat brackets for FD's. Corksport has them, but they don't know if they will work with other seats or not. They said they would check and get back to me, that was 6 months ago. Anyone wanna be a guinny pig and buy a set???
