Someone hit my FD today!!

So I was driving along and this lady pulled into my car, literally she waited until was almost directly in front of her and then she drove directly into my car. No one was hurt so thank God for that. So I wanted to see what you guys think, will it be totaled? No suspension or structual damage, just body panels. The car drove fine on the way home, didn't pull or anything like that. Here's some crappy cellphone pics.

Anyone know of some parts for sale in the Atlanta area? As you can see I need a Door and front and rear fenders. I really don't want this car to be totaled. It's never even been in a wreck until now, I'd hate to see one taken off the road(especially mine!).

depending on the kbb value of the car (before it was hit) - i would say that's easily 7k worth of damage. was worth 10k they would salvage it.

I had a very similar accident with similar damage fender & rear quarter can be bought from Malloy for a good price but I don't know how much shipping would cost (I live near Malloy so I just picked them up). The complete door will be a little tougher to find because that would have to be sourced locally because a new complete door is a few thousand dollar, the skin itself can be purchased but you need the whole door because of the damage. If you ever wanted to go widebody now is the time.

Given the look of the damage to the door are you sure there is no structual damage? Looks like it would have bent the pillar

time to go Feed wide body
they may total the car, probably not, depends on how much that door is gonna cost
make sure you try and keep the salvage!
last fall, some teenage girl in a left turn lane decided to go right and destroyed the front fender in my toyota. I kept the insurance money and got a hammer but then i sold off the car so I know how it feels
my rx7 has a dent in the rear fender which has been fixed more than once...

imo, it doesn't look as bad. most of the damage is around the door area and rear quarter.
The door can be easy to replace if you find a cheap one locally but the rear will need more work.
I was able to get a used door same color (SSM) for 350 locally.

I still have my old door, which I planned on using but I saw the sale on craigs and jumped on it.
If you were local id give it to you..

Mine was in a similar but worse state when I got her as it was hit more frontward catching a little bit of the door but taking out the fender and front bumper. (Same side )
good luck and keep us updated.

pretty sure they'll total it, and the buy back would be pretty cheap. and you should get a decent amount from insurance. my buddy had am 06 sk2 with only 20k on the motor and they totaled it. all that happened was some dudes took the seats, steering wheel, and cut the soft top. wished he would have told me cause i would had bought it back from the insurance.

Wow 16k is awesome, I doubt they will offer that for mine, the kbb is 12.5 in excellent condition. I only have 90k on mine and it is in very good condition(or was!)

I'll keep malloy in mind, I'm actually thinking about doing a whole feed kit from Shine auto instead of factory, it will be cheaper from the looks of it and he can have the whole thing ready in a week.

No structual damage, it drove perfectly straight on the way home. And the way she hit me was basically like I side swiped a guard rail so not too much force went directly into the frame. The side skirt is kinda trashed, but everything underneath looks good.

Wow, I hate bad drivers. No one means to get into an accident, but FD's should have force field or something against accidents. Yeah I'm looking hard a the feed kit. If the car doesn't get totaled I'm absolutely doing the feed kit along with a couple carbon bits here and there.

Wow I wish you were local, I could probably get yours fixed relatively cheap. Yeah the problem is a new door from Mazda is like $1000 and that is what the insurance company is going to look at, not the one I can get off ebay for 400 shipped. I'll post up after I hear from the insurance adjuster.

LOL only 2k for doors haha. I was actually looking at those just or fun, but there is no way I'm spending even 1600 on just doors(even as hot as those!)

I can't believe they totaled the s2k, thats hardly any damage. I really don't want mine totaled, it was never in a wreck before now and was in great shape. It's actually an original red interior car too, and I think only 1500 were made of those so it would be really sad to have a salvage title on it.

Thanks for the responses everyone, cross your fingers and hope that my 7 doesn't get totaled.

Ryan

Some threads you might want to check out in the future.
Fairly close to your location I think.

I think this guy has a silver rx7, not sure if hes parting out his own though, kind of far.

I bet they total it.

If I were in your shoes:
1) Pull headlight cover off
2) Pull sideview off
3) Pull side marker lamp out and break the inner molded clip-hold (inside the bumper)
4) Push fender over into the hood and re-align the hood so it looks whack. Or, just put a small crease in the hood at the point of impact
5) Lightly tap the base corner of the windshield until it spider cracks a bit
6) Do this all BEFORE the appraiser estimate

This would help guarentee a totaled car. Then, *you buy it back* and part it out.
Or, you push them to repair it and they buy all of those listed parts for you brand new.

The truth is, if you wanted a wrecked and repaired FD, you would have sought one out and paid 1/2 for it in the first place. Don't let some stupid bitch force you to drive a repaired wreck. Take the $ and buy a new un-molested one again.

Unfortunately that's how I'm starting to feel. This car was never wrecked and in perfect condition, but the frame is not bent so really there is nothing all that wrong with it. Plus going widebody kinda molests it, so at least I don't have to feel bad about it haha. From the way it stands it looks like I could have the whole widebody kit, paint, and bodywork paid for by the insurance if they don't total it, so thats a pretty hard deal to pass up. I had a friend come by last night and look at the car. He has done body work for 5 years and is 90% sure that the car will NOT be totaled, so kinda good news.

Smile

the fd shall live!!!

It wasn't totalled, although it was within 1% the adjuster said. The Lady who hit me has Geiko and I have to say that I am thoroughly pleased with this insurance company. They even set me up with a rental car at no cost. So it ended up being 6k worth of damage including about a thousand for my wheel and tire. No frame damage that they can tell, once we pull the body panels off we will know for sure but I'm about 99% sure there is none. WIDEBODY TIME!!! Now I just need to find a color haha. I'm going to call shine and order the full kit monday. I already grabbed a set of wheels too, 18x9.5 ET20. A little tucked but it will work until I save up for a custom set. I'm actually going to start a new thread on what color, so look out for that.

Thanks for the responses everyone,

Ryan

Ive had a very bad experience with Geico in the past, but I wont go into that
make sure you check with the body shop before you order parts if you plan to use their recommended center
some shops wont install aftermarket parts, I ran into that problem once

this happend to me today, and I totally blame you
I was stopped at a stoplight, and I wasn't even moving
but, man I must have looked like I was going fast
not sure if I want to have the shop repair it or find some salvaged parts yet
