Question Should I keep my 94 RED?

I have a 94 touring (original Red). The side mirrors are faded as well as the spoiler. There are also a couple of very small chips. I want to get it painted, but I'm at a cross road on if I should keep the car Red. I like red, but I like the dark silver/silver/white colors alot better. So, Keep it RED, or change the color?

If you DO change the color (titanium or pewter metallic looks very nice IMO), do it RIGHT -- get all the jambs and engine bay done.

btw, in painting.... red is the hardest color to cover... so theyll charge extra for that.

ive painted my MB to pearl blue with light blue flakes... its a long and expensive process but it pay's off.. IMO

i vote for keeping it red...
have you read yamaguchi's 3rd gen book?
lots of images, all done very well and most of a red fd. when the paint is fresh the red just really shows off the curves well.

I have a red 93 touring. Had it painted two years ago by Dan Rose of Mr. Spoiler in Manassas, VA. The car still looks great!!

BTW I did NOT have to pay extra for red paint.

I vote to keep it red.

Getting into the engine bay is a hassle and will drive up the cost unless you remove the engine yourself

It will also be relatively inexpensive to have a body shop "touch up" the car - repaint the faded bits, work on the chips and scratches, etc. than do a full repaint. A proper repaint with the jambs, engine bay, etc. will be at LEAST $3000-4000. If you go cheap and don't do the engine bay, it will look REAL dumb when you pop the hood and see the red engine bay.

Keep it red,
Not only is repainting expensive, but it may make it harder to sell you car. Although its a new paint job, telling a prospective buyer its not the original color may throw them off. Just my 2 cents, cheers

obviously keeping it red will be cheaper and easier, but if money is no object- gun metal. it's sooo hot. every body and their brother has red, and as you know it fades the worst. but that's just me, i'm not a big fan of red.

I was debating over the same thing. I'm quite partial to a metallic red. And this way I can get away without painting my engine bay

I was thinking the same too, but decided to paint it Innocent Blue Mica (including engine bay and everything). Now that it's being done, I have no regrets (even though it cost me an arm and a leg). I really like the new color.

Keep it red, its a real pain in the *** to color change a car, and to do it completely right youd have to strip everying off the car, dip it and start fresh, at least i would if i had the money( i'm OCD about stuff liek that, opening up to a red engine bay when the rest of the car is Brave Blue would drive me insane) Some guy in the 2nd gen section is doing a ground up project with a vert. Its simply amazing. Unless you want to go from the ground up, or look like a fool, keep it red. I know how you feel i'm stuck with red too.
