Preserving an FD's leather seats
I just bought 94 FD with tan leather seats. Can any one recommend a good softener/preserver for FD leather seats? I'm "bigger"(200lbs) guy so I'm wondering about my weight ripping seams and effecting the seats overall. I've never owned a car with leather so my experience is with this is none. Thanks!

Banned. I got OWNED!!!
Its tough, I used to clean and condition leather couches. I once extensively cleaned and conditioned my cream colored acura integra leathers, you can soften it up and help the situation, but for making them look newer is a challenge. Your best bet is the best leather conditioner you can find at a furniture store. Sofa Mart anyone?

Conditioners work great for up keep but the best thing to do is to keep the car out of direct sun light. The suns heat isn't the issue, it's the suns rays that does the most damage. The rays will dry up the leather. A good dark window tint will do wonders in blocking the rays and keeping the interior from fading. Also get a sun visor to block the rays from the windshield. I'll take pics of the seats in my car tomorrow and show you the difference between my Fd and my Fc convertible that doesn't have any window tint. My verts seats dry rooted and trashed. I also weigh 200+ LBS.

scratchjunkie: I love those friggin' seats!!!!!
Thanks for the advice guys. The car is going to stay in my carport, which faces South. So I'll use Lexol and block out the sun. Well, block the sun from the car anyway :-)
