Should i get a red or black FD.... ??? I need help from you paint experts.
Hi guys,
My s5 FC is alllllmost sold. Ive being planning my FD project for a while now. The plan from the begining was to get a black FD... However my FC is black, and it is seriously a bitch to make it look good close up, black just shows everything...
So, i sorted throught the ENTIRE 3rd gen pics thread.. and i managed to find some good pictures of red and black cars.. those seem to be my favorite colors..
Black... Drool!!!
Red... also very nice, but its hard to make up my mind..
I need some honest opinions here, is black worth the hassel??? And how does red compare, how much does it hide?
Also an interesting point here.
I think that a red engine bay looks more detailed than a black one. The red bay has more depth perception and more visibility... Observe..
Let me know what you guys think...
Regards,
Ben

Noticed how you used my picture. My FD is NOWHERE near as nice as other VR's on here, but thanks anyway.
I have a red FD and a black C5. The black is about as sex as it goes when clean, but man that C5 needs washing almost every day. It's a royal pita to keep clean. The FD shows dirt alot less, and is easier to keep clean, and looks good in it's own right. I think if you've got a garage for the car and like keeping it looking good, black is the way to go(though it's also hotter in the summer), but if you want to be noticed more, and/or don't want to wash your car every other day, Red will treat you very well indeed.
Just get one of each color problem solved.

I like the way you think! Your car is very clean thought.. I am a fan of that look.
I have heard a lot of bad things with red, fades fast, cost more to get repainted (?). I dont know im still leaning towards black.
However i like the way the engine bay looks on a red car, gives it a lot more detail, black looks like a big giant void unless you spend some money and make it nice.

black ftw. might even save you a few bucks in insurance as red sports cars are generally more to insure. PLUS, paint matching Black is a lot easier than paint matching red....should you decide to add body parts or, god forbid, it gets into a wreck.

i wanted black but found a better deal on a red fd. red wasn't really an option for me but i've really grown to like it. doesn't matter either way, you're getting an fd. congrats!

Both colors fade in their own way, just keep it washed and waxed, also try and get some shade on it if you can(of course this also helps keeping the interior away from the sun too). Either way, you'll be very happy as the FD looks good in ANY color.

^ good points.
I was going to try and find a good car cover for it anyways..
I have always being strongly against bodykits in the past.. however the FEED body kit is just plain sick.
Black is badass FTW.
I guess it would be differant if i was buying a ferrari
But ya, either way im super exited to be getting an FD, exactly 12 months ago i made is my goal... and after 2 cars (including an s5 turbo) i can finally import a nice one.
First thing im doing when i get the FD; putting it on jackstand and doing 60k tune (also replacing all the eng/tranny mounts). Then i can focus on susp, exhaust, intake, port wg, etc.
Thanks for all the input guys, i thought i was going to get flamed for this post haha.
