silver w/ red seats
I never thought much of that combo but now that I've bought one in silver/red i'm sooo glad i did....and its not all red, just the seats and some trim, goes perfect with the gauges and just gives it a now-this-is-******-race-car feel

I feel like ive cheated everybody....
I stumbled upon a totally MINT silverstone metallic FD at auction a couple weeks ago..... JDM 1992 Type R (no sunroof/other pointless stuff, 5spd(obviously)) 79 000km, full service records, totally bone stock, no accidents, auction grade was 3.5 which is the best rating for a used car, the interior is B which again... is the best, and B exterior=best possible rating. This was exactly what i was looking for!
When i first saw the car i was interested emidiatly... I had never taken a hard look at silver before. So i spent a whole day deciding if i liked metallic silver or not... After looking at a countless pictures i actaully really liked the liquidy sleek metallic silver.
The car was on Kyushu which is the southern island of Japan. The auction was small and isolated, subsequently.. the comapny i deal with in australia sayed that there was a good probability of getting the car at a great price.
So i bid.. stayed up until 12am to watch the auctions progression.... I had bid 450 000Yen as my max bid ( 4500$ cad/us - our currency is above par!), ended up winning the auction at ~300 000Yen (car price 3000$) then there is an auction house fee of around 1000$ to do all the paperwork and ship the car to any dock, this is the FOB price. Long story short after container shipping, taxes etc etc should come to ~8000$ landed in total.
I would have loved to have gotten a black car.. however with the opertunity that i was given to me at the time, i had to act fast, and it turned out for the better. The extra money i would have paid for a MINT black car at a large auction would have being around 10k.. so that money can go directly into the car! Thats a set of Teins and 1k in reliability.
The things i love about silver is how sharp it looks, yet it looks liquidy as well. Shows detail well, looks great with black parts (i can get my fix with black), the engine bay is brighter, and doesnt constantly need atttention to look good (however you cant beat a clean black car), the car wont be 10000000 degrees in the summer and the paint is metallic which i happen to like!
Here was some of my inspiration..
And here is the actual pictures of my car at auction..
The car is going to land in 4-6 weeks.. I will have 150 pictures of the car and a full mechanical inspection next week.
Cheers,
=Ben

I know one of the silver cars you posted a pic of! good friend of mine i would go drive around the mountains with before i moved a few weeks ago. Also, my old neighbor had a very pretty silver FD...silver is a good color...i plan for my next FD to be silver...
congrats on the cheap buy...but if you really want black, i would trade you my LHD '93 US spec for that '92 RHD...just have to find a way to pay off the black one so i could get the title..of course, i would have to find a way to get the RHD "legal" in the US...oh, and no i wont consider trading my red '93...
