Shine FC2000 replica bumper install problems

I have the bumper half-*** mounted. Is it really this big of a bitch to mount a bumper properly?

You get what you pay for. I'm not saying Shine products are cheap but they are replica's after all. It's hit or miss with replica's but with authentic pieces you are more likely to have good fitment with minimal adjustment. However, it could be your car that is off rather than the bumper.

I am not trying to blame Shine. I've got it sanded and cut in the proper spots... You know those few holes at the end of the fender? Those seem so impossible to get aligned with the holes I had to cut in the bumper tabs. I suppose I am just looking for advice.

I've used tons of shine product in the past and unless something has changed most of the stuff I had go through my hands was as good or better than the genuine RE stuff I have sitting here.

I've had similar experience with shine products being fairly 'plug and play' but that bumper can be the worst one. mostly because after 20+ years of being abused by whomever, the front end can get all tweeked out. ESPECIALLY if someone has nose dived the sucker into a deep culvert drain.

If it's an inch or two more off; Use a thin line up tool and long hole that sucker. you may even have to have a bud help push it together while you are underneath working it.

If it's more that 2 inches then I would suggest mocking it up on the car how you want it to sit, then make some new holes and brackets or whatever you gotta do to bolt her on. This option tends to lead a certain type of people (dummies) to half *** something together, but if you got a good fabricators bone in ya it's almost usually the easier of the two options. It just takes longer and there is the slight chance you could 'joe' (a guy I know that couldn't build a sandwich without effing it up) your 500 dollar bumper, along with it's stone cold sex appeal

The FC2000 ShineAUtoProject is a really cheap bumper ! I bought from Shine:

-FC2000/Front fender 20mm/Rear fender 30mm/ Side skirt Carbon and Rear diffuser Carbon

Rear fender and rear diffuser is good. Side skirt need to be cut and some modification !

For the front bumper you need to work a lot ! If you are noob in body shop job don't touch that seriously ! You need to be a king in that job lol

Front fender need to be modified if you want to have a need gap between the fender and door.

The best deal for do perfect job with cheap quality is to fix the FC2000 on fender with glue (AB)

My project picture : http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?s...9261572&type=3 more picture to come for see front end fixed

You guys should be careful about how you mouth off. I've bought plenty of Shine products (both their replicas and the original mold pieces) and the replicas have always been better than the original. I'm happy to bet my reputation that its likely that your car/body panels are off.

And you think the authentic RE FC2000 bumper fits better? Did you know that when they first developed that bumper, it was made and test-fitted on a car with frame damage? Fact.

This is why you leave bodywork to the professionals.

Shine as an unusually good reputation for fitment and quality...in particular when considering the junk put out by places like Chaser. I own several of their pieces and know many others who do as well and the fit is OEM or of better quality than the original.

meh... sometimes you just get a whack piece too.

i just got the spec-b FD front bumper from shine. they had great customer service and fast shipping, but im not super impressed with the fitment. it required an extra 4hrs bodyshop labor just in sanding/filler/etc to get the front smooth to my standards (non wavy/saggy).

the shop DID say that its one of the better aftermarket parts they have seen.... but it was definitely not plug-n-play

of course sometimes people suggest its the car and not the part... that might be true... but the stocker i took off lined up just fine.... sooo i feel like its the part.

I used to own a shine bumper and sides...I am never doing that again because of the fitment.

Good luck.

fact: Nothing fiberglass from any company fits perfect right out of the box. I have been doin bodywork for 10+ years and i dont care what big name company claims legit fitment, it simply doesnt. I almost opted to NOT use my pettitt rear fender flares because they were that shitty upon initial fitment... 100hrs total later (not ******* kidding) i made them legit as can be and am happy. Would i pay a bodyshop to do what i did? NO. i simply couldnt! which is why i learned to spray/bodywork in the first place, hahaha. Send me pics, or post pics of what you currently have going on and i can guide you and much as possible. -Sometimes- you can get lucky and just need to lightly grind a few things here and there. Send/post bumper to fender pics, headlight to bumper, hood to bumper with hood closed and open soo i can assess things for you. You currently have OEM hood and headlights or aftermarket? My pettit 99 bumper looked great outa the box untill it didnt line up with my oem fenders or RE sleek headlights, seibon CF hood, or CF 99 spec lip. FML.

I changed my mnd in my car about five times. I have three front bumpers, three sets of fenders, four sets of side skirts, only two rears though and one rear fender covers. Shine products fit the best by far and some of my extras are high dollar pieces. Fiberglass non-OEM is never perfect but Shine, in my opinion, tends to be among the best, esp for the price.
