Serious ? about hood pins....

Guys, I just recieved my CF hood today and everyone tells me I need pins.
I hate pins, but dread the thought of the latch breaking out of the CF.

So, What are the smallest pins/locks I can get? And where?
I am painting them black regardless but the smaller the better.

Thanks. Note, I can not put the hood on untill I get some clear answers.

I would look into something with locks.... I have an unopened set of sparco hood pins, but it's too easy for unscrupulous people to walk by & remove them & pry open the hood.

Good advice on both counts guys.

nilla, I dont see how those function. Would they be deep enough, and what do they screw into to tighten?

rOtOr, would the hood latch not be sufficient to deter thieves? They can unlock it, but they would still have to pry/damage the hood to get it open.

My understanding is that some people don't use the stock latch anymore w/aftermarket hoods. Back when i had a KS c/f replica, the sides (near headlights) weren't too hard to force upward. Yeah, the hood would have to be broken/cracked, but theives won't care unless their purpose was to steal the hood undamaged.

These look ugly, but this is the basic idea:

It depends on the area you drive the car, & the amt of paranoia you have I suppose

Im pretty sure they could still pry the hood up even with those locks on. The carbon will just break around the locks. I personally don't like the look of the locks. You could always just leave the latch on, just makes it a pain to do because you have to get out of your car and undo the pins. Then pull the latch for the hood.

Oh, I see. That pic helps. Well, it's rather 'soft' down here in O-Town, if you know what I mean. And I am truly not that paranoid. Im sure kids are already going to be sticking thier hands into the huge exhaust vents of the Scoot hood.

Thanks guys,

Raj

you mount the copper coil on a plate like this http://shop.store.yahoo.com/hm-performance/71550.html
and use a flat head or quarter to push down and turn the part you put in the hood. it is a true flush mount.
as for stuff getting stolen. if they are going to try the locks are not going to stop them. to steel any thing under the hood you will need tools. so they will find a way any how.

and no i don't know this store, they where just the first google page to have them that i found. you may find them cheaper, i don't know.

Hood pins are so ugly, painting em black so they arent noticeable is a good idea.
