Well, heres some of my "research" if it might help you out.

82mm LED PCB rings (62mm inner diameter, 82mm outer diameter) *Almost* matches theories 60x80 acrylic diffuser rings
http://www.led-tech.de/en/Light-Emit...1057_1_91.html

3" diameter circles in ~ 1/4 thickness (Note: 82mm = 3.2283inch)
http://www.tapplastics.com/shop/product.php?pid=140

You could use a hole saw to cut out the inner part, then use sand paper to give them that frosted look.

That doesnt solve the 75mm outer turn signals... but it gets you pretty close. That was about where I stopped researching because SBG say they are willing to do the conversions themselves now and promise it wont take as long as the existing group buy. I'm willing to pay SBG to avoid all the hassle of doing it myself, if they dont do it I'll continue down that path.

Dan, what are your plans for increasing the brightness of the lights? Talk to Tom - from before Tom started making these, I had urged him to use brighter LEDS.

I don't think those are going to work very well for you if I read the datasheet correctly. Two problems: 1)they are not very bright. They are 3.8 lumens which corresponds to less brightness than what SBG currently uses. I know you can't directly convert lumens to mcds, but 3.8 lumens would be probably 2,000 mcds. Not good. 2)the viewing angle is not wide enough. You really need something in the 120 degree range so the lights can be seen at a wide angle.

I am not an electronics expert but I would urge you to reconsider these for the above reasons. Lumileds makes other products (the automotive series and the color series) that will blow the above out of the water. Select any one of those and then "drive" them with these and you would be good to go:

We are looking for ways to increase the brightness. Honestly haven't really researched it heavily yet since we've had a few other things on our plate. But Heath and I won't start producing them until Tom finishes his current GB. Of course we're going to talk to Tom before making them, it's his design/product

Are you talking about the rebel auto's? I have seen those in person and there are super bright but i wouldn't be able to use them they are too big and need some heatsinking.

I chose the red-orange and those are 5 lm and I am just going to put them behind the diffused lens of the taillight. I'm hoping that the lens will diffuse the light properly so it would be seen from the side.

Sbg led's would be good enough if they didn't have the extra acrylic diffuser but since they are using the new diffuser below the stock diffuser it diminishes the light a lot.

Yes those were the ones. I just don't think 5 lumens is going to cut it but I could (and often am) wrong. Please post up pics.

I've seen attempts at this. The end up looking terrible for some reason. I agree though, stickers would be really convenient.
