btw, can u take a pix of the lexan covers? how does it fasten to the lower portion? does it remove easily in case of adjusting? lastly, is there a backing plate or is the assembly kinda exposed where the lamps are?

Ok... here's what i have... none of the wiring has been done yet.. that's next after I start my car.. but here are some pics...
here you can see the lexan cover which is much thinner than the original RE Amemiya piece... I actually ask for it unpainted, but you can request the trim to be painted when you order it... I was planning on buying just the lenses from RE since it's thicker, curved and tinted...oh and the top painted trim will need be sprayed w/ a little more paint to cover the lights since they stick further out... can anyone help me get the lenses?? also, you have options to fasten the lenses to the housings... either some kind of epoxy... 3M double sided tape or screws/rivets... i perfer the HD double sided tape..
Here is the top view... damn... I cut way too much as you can see... oh well too late.. but you can see I set the low beam further back since I didn't like how most people had the low beam sticker further than the hight beam... even w/ the HID version it's further back..
Here is Chucks install with the lows further out..

Here is the back view of the kit... the 2 that hold the light housing wil be replaced w/ hex bolts and washers since the one i had was corroding already... but i think chucks kits have them already... i had the first batch...
oh and I will be painting the brackets black... and yes the lights are exposed on the back....

top rear shot with the housing off... as you asked.. you can easily slide off the housing...
Another note I forgot to add... you have to cut the housings to fit the Hella lights so you can make the proper adjustments... I haven't had a chance to do that yet..

Hey Jay,
Not to steal your thread, but went a similar but slightly different route with Chuck's kit. I too purchased the Hella HID's, but I replace all of the hardware with SS, and used nut inserts (my new favorite fasteners) instead of hex nuts to hold the adjustment socket/allen screws.
I also chose to swap the highbeams and low beams positions so that I would not have to cut into the fender sheet metal.
To mount the Lexan cover, I used:
3M Scotch VHB (Very High Bond) Foam Tape
—Adhesive on Both Sides
from McMaster Carr:

3M Tape and HID fitment
Jay, I bought the tape (like just about ALL the non-OEM hardward on myb 7) from McMaster.com. In the "find products" search box just type in "Adhesive tape 3M".
Ptrhahn, my way only means you cut less. But be advised that I DID NOT use Chuck's HIDs, but instead I ordered seperately the HID that Hella sells. I believe (Chuck please correct me if wrong) that Chucks HID's are halogen housings modified to accept the Hella HID bulbs. His housings fit better, but were not the originally designed for the HID bulbs/focal points. So I've traded some fitment for light design.

also, if you switch the placement of the highs and lows... you have to watch that your coolant filler and washer fluid neck aren't in the way... carlos doesn't have those.... just to point out....
