Raised hood ??

Greetings,
Has anyone seen or heard of raising your hood slightly? It looks like the hood is open maybe an inch. I guess you place washers on your molting bolts or something. Would anyone know what this is for or how its done ?

Thanks,
Jason

Like that, you can also see it on Soul Assasins car on the Velocity site.

I think it's to give just alittle more downforce to the front of the car. I'm going to do it to my hood as soon as I decide which hood I'm getting

It's actually used as a cheap alternative to buying a vented hood. I could never figure out how they accomplished it though. The bolts attached to the hood are only about 1/4" longer than they should be and the hoods with the mod usually look 3/4-1" higher than stock. If someone who's done it could post pictures and a write up, that'd be great.

buy longer bolts You need washers between the hood and the hinge. I think that's a pretty cheap idea if it's used as a vented hood. I just think it looks cool, plus it might give me some more hood clearance

LMAO!

That was my first thought after wanting to do it, but when I looked under the stock hood I noticed the screws are fastened onto the hood from the inside. If you've got an idea to replace those I'd sure like to hear it!

Soul assasin gave up on RX7's.He sold his car and bought a Buick Grand National.

Is it me or does that hood modification look serioulsy mocked?

It looks like something is broke or has been in an accident.

If I sold my rx7 for a buick I wouldn't broadcast it on the forums either. Imagine all the drama he would catch.

They only put 2 bolts in the hood instead of 4 and it tilts it up, supposed to draw air in .

oops, last hood I had didn't have studs sticking out of them like the stock ones do.

Why don't you stick washers between the hood and hinge, and the hinge and frame? That sould give you at least 1"
