Question on vented hoods...

I feel kind of dumb asking this but...when it comes to vented hoods like the Knight Sport hood for example, does rain or weather pose any type of problem? Couldn't water leak in through the vents and soak the electricals or open filament air intakes? just thought i'd ask since i'm thinking about getting the KS hood soon

You really don't have much to worry about. I know people who have vented hoods, and rain is not a problem, as nothing really gets "soaked". Normally, water will get into the engine bay when you drive in the rain anyway.

The scoot hood is probably the worst about it and I've read that people dont even really have a problem with that one.

I have a Scoot hood and seems to be OK in the rain.. I drove 200 miles during pour down rain and when I got back to my garage, it was pretty good.. some parts were wet but not too bad.. But most of it was interstate drive. I still hate driving in the rain..

Some vented hoods like the Knightsports one come with rain guards.

they attach under the hood and keep the water from going inside the engine bay. people say they work just fine.

I may be having a problem with my vented hood, ever since I got it I have been have a few problems. It has been raining in texas for the past 2 weeks and the car has been totaly drenched. And in the past two weeks my car has been jumping and hopping in low revs and steady driving. I am almost sure it is somthing electircal and that it will be ok as soon as it drys out! I have the carbon fiber ks hood.

My Rotary Extreme N1 hood came with some CF rain trays and I use them when I have to be out in the raid. My intake sits right below the vents on the passenger side, and I hate the thought of the intake getting soaked.

I had the INGS hood and when it rained last August here when it flooded nothing happened. I just had a hard time starting the following morning, then it was fine. But that was extreme amounts of water.
