Thumbs up props to clay magic

I just wanted to give a thumbs up to clay magic clay bar. I had a bad case of overspray on some areas of my car, the paint was rough and it looked dull. After I clay barred it, my car is now smooth as silk and looks like it just came out of the showroom. I recommend it to anybody that wants to enhance the look and feel of their car... This stuff is where its at

how long does the whole process take, and how many steps are involved? Where I live/work there's a LOT of dust & gutter-splashing, so I end up having to wash/wax the car every other weekend BUT it only takes me ~2 hrs max start to finish.
Does anyone know how long it lasts before you have to do it again?

It takes about 2 hours if you do it thoroughly and correctly. There are 3 steps..(1) you spray the clay lube on to help the clay bar glide and remove contaminates. (2)use the clay bar, (apply in different directions and apply some pressure), (3) wipe excess clay lube off. Using a clay bar takes all the contaminates off I'd say its your call on when you think it needs it. A body shop would have charged me well over $100 for clay barring and waxing. But $10 for the clay bar & lube and 2 hours of your own time is well worth it. Carnuaba wax also does a real nice job of shinning it up and protects real well... hey its summer time gotta get the FD ready for pimpin

What kind of clay is it? Would normal clay work the same?

I thought the clay bar strips your car of everything and even a tiny fraction of the clear coat to even it out. Does this product really work. I just recently got a paint job and it isn't perfect so I'd like to use a clay bar. How much clkearity can I really expect from this product?

Fujisuma I have no idea if regular clay will work but I think the clay might have a certain chemical in it that helps clean the car.
Street King... it honestly made a HUGE difference on my car.. on the overspray areas it felt like 100 grit sand paper (Not literally) but after I used the clay bar It was as smooth if not smoother than a brand new car. The tiny little overspray dots were all taken off too... the paint on the bumper and the mirrors is as smooth as the rest of the car. I would assume its 100% clear coat safe because I got AWESOME results I gotta post pics up...

The clay bars are supposed to be non-abrasive and safe for all finishes. You can actually feel it picking up stuff as you go over areas that need it, and you can, as rex4x says, easily feel the difference when you run your hand over it after you're done. I was suprised at how well it worked. I don't know if I'd try some generic form of clay though...who knows what the stuff is really made of?

they have different clays, red and blue, one is more "abrasive" then the other and will require light polishing afterwords.

By the way, to speed the whole process up put your car in a shady area, wash the car, leave it wet, use a bucket of clean soapy water and dip the clay bar in it instead of using the bullshit spray they sell you. You can do a whole car in about 15 minutes to a half hour this way.
