power antenna replacement on a FC

OK i started cleaning out my fc the other day and i was like man i need to get rid of these bins they are so messed up! so i took them out and i found some stuff under there. i have had the car for almost a year and i never took them out. so finding a Fanta and a Diet Mt Dew and some other stuff under there, i found a brand new never used still sealed power antenna! mine never worked and i thought about replacing it so now is my chance! i took the old one off and put the new one in but the only problem is i am not sure what wires on the stock harness power the antenna. my new antenna has a yellow, green, and black wire. i know the black is a ground. what are the other two and where should i hook them up to the stock wiring? thanks guys

Grab a voltmeter and find out which is the switched 12v source for the antenna. This wire gets 12v ONLY when the FM/AM tuner is on. Most aftermarket radios have power antenna wires, so chances are if you have an aftermarket, it has one. If you cant find the power, pull out the radio and check to see if the wire is hooked up. It is solid blue on an aftermarket harness. THe instructions should tell you which wires on the antenna do what, but if I remember its red = 12v, blue = antenna power, black = ground. If push comes to shove, you may have to run those three wires back to the antenna, but that is usually never the case.

You could do that, but you will want the antenna lead from the radio, otherwise the antenna will be up all the time.
