is it possible???
is it possible to get a quality paint job from rattle cans, i have a very low budget. let say i buy some good quality rattle can brand and wet sand and the whole shindig. could i get a pretty good finish?
I see. If this was going to be for an FD, I'd say you're nucking futs.
Why don't you spend $200 on a paint job from Earl Scheib? That's about as low budget as you can get, and it's better than anything you could ever get from a spray can.

Yes it can be done successfully. I have seen a car painted with spray cans that looked better than most professional jobs. It was a show car and won first place at national concours. The car was a ground-up restoration, and he hand-sanded and polished each body panel and painted them while disassembled. IIRC he used about 40 cans of black laquer.

Daniel577, I have some buddies in Los Gatos that own a body shop and are painting my car House of Colors Kandy Apple Red right now for $800. If your buddie is just looking for paint on the outside they could probably do it for a few hundred bucks and make it look pretty decent. Shoot me a pm if you are interested.
