Popping amp fuses

I have a battery relocation kit and all and i am hooking everything directly too the battery and i cannot keep the amp from blowing fuses. I cannot find another place to ground the amp too in the rear of the car. my voltage on the battery is 13.8 which is normal im told. any ideas as to what i can do to fix this problem? Im not running anything HUGE just a 250watt amp.

You may have a short in the wire feeding the amp. Also, are you using the right size fuse for your amp.Check the problems out and if it still does not work ground the amp to someting else.Maybe the amp is shot?

Is this fuse on the amp itself, or is it an inline fuse on the power cable?

the fuse is on the amplifier its self. it is a 30amp fuse. it is the right fuse. I think i may need to find a diffrent grounding point. everything is soo close to the battery. Any more advice would be great . ill keep trying things today

.... I had the same problem with a fog machien in my theatre class, open it up, and just bypass the fuse, cut the wires, then solder them together, if you want put heatshrink over them too. Bypassing a fuse like that is easy. BTW, its been about 6 months, and the fog machien is fine.

Make sure your grounding point is clean and secure (no paint, rust, whatever). Find a good bolt or something, sand it down and around it, then attach the ground wire. If you're running less than 8GA wire, that could be a problem. Also, the power and ground wires should be of the same gauge and be as short as possible.

Also, is your amp running hot from either not enough cooling area or too low of an impedence?

250 watts at how many OHMs? Don't be wiring up too many speakers, or speakers taht are not compatible.

DO NOT bypass the fuse. Fuses are there for a reason.

Jeez, I think I know where you got your name, molotov...

****!!! I second that! Do not bypass a fuse!

First the obvious, make sure you have the right +12V and ground wires going to their correct terminals, and not to a speaker terminal.

Unless your alt. or battery is producing in excess of 16V, having "dirty" or undersized connections alone will not cause the fuse to blow. It may power-starve the amp affecting sound quality, but it shouldn't hurt it causing fuses to blow.

Make sure screws or other conductive objects didn't fall into a an opening on the amp.

Otherwise, like others have said, make sure you speaker cables aren't shorted, and that you're not driving too low of an impedance.

As you may have noticed....This individual is refering to a "fog machine". The kind is which none of us would "give a crap about."

Bypassing fuses is dumb. Bottom line. But hey man, im really happy for you and your fog machine.

I hear a .22 bullet makes a good fuse substitute.
