Poor man's headlight mod

I had the idea and tried it first with some aluminum foil templates, and once I saw how great the two circles looked I had to make something to create that look. So, I fiberglassed the stock headlight shrouds and made two circles in each one. They bolt back up just like the stock ones. Sorry for the crappy quality of these pictures, they do it any good. I'll try to take some more another time. Evan

That looks cool, but doesn't it reduce the lighting?

Reminds me of "rockshox's" custom headlights. Either way, they both look like crap.

It took a whole Saturday to do both of them. There is no difference in lighting as far as I can tell. I put one on and left the other cover off to compare beams and couldn't tell any difference in brightness or beam pattern. I really like them, but I can understand why some people wouldn't. This should hold me over until I can finally justify paying 1 grand for a sleek light kit.

i do... and don't, if you get my drift

the stock headlights offer crappy lighting as it is and it seems that you just covered up at least another 60% of the surface area where the light is supposed to shine through but if it works for you, to each his own...

There really isn't any difference in lighting. Driving the car at night is just like it was before. Only the outside edges of the stock bulb housing are covered. I like "rockshox" lights, but I think it would look better with the shrouds fiberglassed around the lights. Are those the Hella 90MM on the outside?

i'm a little confused....

the title is 'poor man's headlight mod' or w/e.... yet you drive an FD3S(which makes no sense if you're poor)

just didn't make much sense to me ;-)

haha j/k, it looks good though, brother

keep it up..

What if you put reflective material on the inside of your covers (the side facing the light)? Maybe the light that normally gets covered will keep bouncing back & forth until it shines thru your opening....

Will constant heat omitted from the lens eventually warp or melt the cover???
