I have the 10" MB Quart Pwd-204
you know the woofer with the woven Kevlar?

Brand New $125 haven't seen a deal like that yet.
Their plus is that they work well in a small enclosure.
Hmmm sounds like that is what's needed in an rx7
The barics need a ported box don't they? And a bog box to let them really get going. Those are my thoughts

By far the best two subs on the market are the new JL W7's or the Eclipse Titaniums. I had 2 10" Eclipse Aluminiums in my old car and those bitches are clear and hit hard as ****. Gotta make sure you have ampul power runnin those subs though.

Um, don't buy the Eclipse Aluminum. It will beat itself to death. I've seen it. I used to work in an audio shop. I used to have Mc amps in my car ... two of them. They are really nice amps but slightly overpriced and very big. I don't really miss too much with my JL Audio amps. Yes I have found some weak spots compared to the Mc amps, but not many.

All of this talk about subs does make me sick. I love JL Audio subs, but a W7 SUCKS in a car. They like big cabins like those of SUVs. I personally hate sealed boxes because I think they lack the depth of a ported box. I have two Boston Pro 10.5s I'm about to sell because I didn't like them. (Oh yeah, I built 4 boxes for them, 2 ported and 2 sealed so don't give me that you didn't put it in the right box crap!) I've had 12 different boxes in my FD and it is a difficult car for bass.

Well, my point to all this rambling is first decide what time of sub sound you want, midbass kick, low end, or all around. Decide how loud you want it and then how much money you have. DON'T GO CHEAP ON YOUR AMP!

I mean this in no disrespect whatsoever, but if that sub is the cleanest sub you have heard you need to audition some other drivers. Even if you are talking about a woofer with both SPL/SQ capabilities there are still drivers that would be a better choice. The W7, Brahma, ID MAX V3 to name a few. I have heard the L7 and it hits hard, but the SQ just wasn't anything to brag about. I have heard a MAX, although not the V3 (my car last year) as well as a W7 in a friend's. I thought the MAX was an excellent woofer, and the newer version is supposed to be even better, but the W7 is a little better IMHO.

I have a FD with 2 12" JL W3s and they hit pretty good so i would say go with JL or boston acustics.

Im in the old school bracket myself, the new amps and most subs have went to sheet. I still like the JL w6's and older Orion power cant be beat IMO. Get a couple W's and a HCCA amp and sit back and enjoy

I had a rockford punch 12" and it blew up, don't know why, it just started to get a nasty rattle, so I replaced it with a Clarion 12". No problems since, I have a punch amp and capacitor, thinking of trying a rockford again.

Smile Poll

It depend on what you want if you want sound quatity or volume. If you go for sound quatity you will want to stick with eclipse, kicker,JL Audio, they other thing to keep in mine is that if you have someone do it make sure they know what the hell they are talking about. not just taking a box. and putting speakers in the box. I f you want volume you can go with anything. Some thing else to think about you can get both with the better brand like the ones mention above for sound quatity but will cost more but are worth it and then make sure you have enough watts/amps for the speaker you get.

Smart man. I just sold a pair of the old XPL's myself, now looking for some round Solo's. Badass subs, but they're getting harder and harder to find these days in decent shape.

Image Dynamics IDMAX was the one that was rated the best! I appoligise for talking before checking .... but I can get you the link a little bit later.

On the cost side... you can get about 2 IDMAX's for the cost of 1 JL W7. *shrug* let me know if you want more info...

It's all just opinions tho... I would suggest searching other boards!
Yes Image Dynamic are very good speakers. I love them from all the sub I had this are the best ones and I had lots of subs. Go to www.mmxpress.com they have good prices.
