Actaully, i hand-sanded a honda valve cover....
The area down where the spark plug holes are were a big PITA, as were the grooves by the cam gears.
I'm sticking to polishing piping from now on. I like having fingerprints (most of the time)

I guess I must be nuts because I have done all my sanding by hand before taking it to the buffer...I really don't have a fingerprint anymore...I tried using the dremel before but I find that I can never apply steady enough pressure to avoid making pits with the dremel. hmmm

here's mine

I hear ya, bro! I found that using a dremel would end up taking addition time just to remove the deep scratches & pits

It's two small 10mm nuts. You reach it from under neath as you were chaniging your oil almost.
Takes about 3 min to take it off.

Dremels suck for sanding. Use a palm sander or the traditional round orbital.
The first UIM I polished was with files and sandpaper completely by hand.
Not even a buffer, just sanding, steel wool and mothers.
I learned a few tricks since then

Look fellas, Go here for your polishing supplies. search the word "polishing" you'll find all sorts of good stuff.

anpleblue, these are cone sanders, you mount them on a small threaded mandrel that you can chuck into a drill.

apneablue, two 10mm bolts on the rear turbo (and a metal gasket) and then you angle it out of the car

it's really easy to pull, and yes, you can definitely do it now that i've spotted it

Finally, someone that I can call more insane than myself!
I always used to do things like this; use a wrench when a ratchet would be quicker; use a file when a sander would be quicker, etc
I'm not sure why,but I always had to do things the hard way. Now that I've grown older I'm finding excuses to buy the power tools now!
I wish I had the time to do these things now, I guess I'm getting too domesticated

Regards,
Frank

I would help you out man, Im just getting ready to get married and go on my honeymoon/vacation.
Normally I charge $200 for a manifold plus a core.
So you would still be short the $200 for me to do it.
I would contact either gotham racing or rc polishing in Jersey.
